Central Park 1 – 7 MP3rds

Daz 2, Jimmy, Cam, Nani, Dicko, Squigsy.

Fresh off their first win of the season the Middle Park 3rds faced Central Park. Having lost twice to them last year revenge was to be had and the squad was full confidence and selection was tough with many coming back from injury. First team mouthpiece and numpty, Nani, was also available after serving this suspension.

Middle Park started brightly playing uphill and into a strong wind. The ball was getting passed around well and a few chances were carved out. The first goal came from Daz and it was his first of his brace,

Brad was giving the Central Park back line the run around and he received the ball on the right hand side of the box. He jinked past 2 players and looked sure to score……until the Dicko the Thief took it off his toes and put it past the keeper to score. The 3rd came soon after with the ball in from the left and fell to Squigs at the back post. He took a touch to find a good angle and fired past the keeper.

Jimmy was next to get on the score sheet after some great play down the wing by Adam to get a free kick. With a ball that had whip, skip and dip, Dicko the Thief delivered it right on to Jimmy’s head (guess who is writing this) who head another goal.

As the 1st half drew to a finish the intensity and work rate noticeably dropped and allowed Central Park back into the game with a goal. After some changes and the half time team talk from Captain, Coach and Manager the team started brightly again. Camilio, making his debut showed quick feet but his shot was blocked and the chance was lost. But he wasn’t to be denied, after the ball broke to Cam in the box he let fly with a shot that wasn’t the cleanest he’ll ever hit. The keeper looked to have it covered easily at his front post but somehow is slivered under him and into the goal.

The Central Park players were started to feel the effects of the Middle Park fitness and started to lose their shape and discipline….speaking of which someone who was stuggling with fitness and a hangover, Nani found himself with the ball 25 yards out. He couldn’t be arsed running anymore so swung a boot at it and rifled the ball into the far post. In all fairness it was a cracker. He was then sick in his mouth and asked to come off “I’m not doing anything out there and Leitchy is shouting at me”.

In a fitting end to a convincing and moral boosting win, Daz popped up with another goal and his time it was a peach. Again it was another strike from distance and it had power and dip which flew over the plump keeper.

A great performance and an ever better result. A marker put down to the rest of the league and only 2 points off the top. Next up Bundoora Eagles
