The first official match of the 2013 season is set for this Saturday, as the Parkers face South Yarra in the 2nd round of the State Knockout Cup. After much back-and-forth regarding the time and venue, the match has now been confirmed at the State Football Centre (Darebin) in Thornbury, at 5 pm on Saturday, March 9th.
It’ll be the first meeting between the two clubs’ top sides since the 3rd round of the 2011 edition of the cup competition. On that occasion, South Yarra squeaked through, winning 1-0, following a tight match in a torrential downpour. The Parkers will be looking for revenge for that loss, as well as looking to set down a marker in advance of an expected 8 further matches between the two clubs, across four grades, in 2013.
We are calling on all Parkers, old and new, young and old, to get down to Darebin on Saturday evening to cheer our boys on to victory!
