It is with great pleasure that we can announce that Middle Park FC’s Thirds team had been promoted to the top tier of the Metropolitan League.
Following a stellar (and unlucky) 2013 season, the Ben Cooksey led Thirds finished 2nd in Metropolitan Div 2 (SE), missing the automatic promotion spot by only 4 points, but recording an imposing record of 14 wins and 2 draws from 18 games with a goal difference of +47.
This performance was in the face of team(s) who had stacked their Metropolitan teams with Stage League players towards the end of the year, so there is a sense of justice in the promotion.
It is a great reward to Ben and his team who’s commitment to training and matches throughout 2013 (and again this year) has been nothing short of exemplar.
Ben has accepted the promotion and both he and the club is looking forward to the challenge of competing in Metropolitan League 1 in 2014.
It also caps a wonderful last 5 years for the club, where since joining the Football Federation in 2010 – our senior three teams have been promoted every year on the bounce.
It is fantastic recognition for all of our coaches who have given up countless hours, days and months over the last 5 years and also to the calibre of members we have who have pulled on a MPFC shirt.
The club is looking forward to continuing this tradition in 2014, with our season opener for Seniors & Reserves being this Friday night away to Monbulk Ranges. Make the effort to get out and support the boys if you can.
