Middle Park 3rds headed out into the burbs’ looking to extend their unbeaten run. With a strong squad the only sticking point was who would play in goal? However following a call to the Kenyan President we managed to fill the gap between the posts with Dave “The Cat” Rayner!
Parkers started lively and had the best of the chances in the first 15 minutes with Brad making some great runs behind the Eagles back line. Suddenly 20 minutes in the game was turned on its head after Mark Hoey made a late tackle, although the Parkers players knew they would be defending a threatening free kick they didn’t expect the girly shouts from Boroondara of “he was last man” and “Red Card” to pressure the referee into getting his cards out! Unfortunately the Red was produced and Mark was sent for an early bath.
In true Parkers style the 10 men left on the park battled hard and weathered a short storm from Boroondara. As the 45 minute mark approached Adam picked up the ball on the half way line, he took off down the left wing and slid the ball through to Brad who carefully picked out Camilo. Adam continued his run into the box where a pin point pass from Camilo landed in his path, with the keeper off his line there was only one shot on. Adam delicately lifted the ball over the keepers head and celebrated Ibrahimovic style!

The second half started like the first with Parkers running the show for the first 10 minutes. After that they let Boroondara back into the game for a spell. Two game changing saves from the Kenyan ringer meant Middle Park staying in front. Sensing tiredness in some players Stu rang some changes and brought on some fresh legs. This seemed to work and again Parkers were back on top. Although a man down everyone could sense there was more to come and in a 5 minute burst Parkers put another two goals into the Boroondara net. The first was a well earn’t corner that was whipped in from Dicko, with the ball hanging in the air Jason rose like a salmon and a powerful header saw the ball rocket into the back of the goal! The second a carefully placed finish just inside the box from Dickos left peg!
The Eagles managed to grab a late consolation, but a huge mention to Parkers defence line Cooksey, Dave Houghton, Spud and Chris who battled as a 4 man unit (thanks Adam….coaches edit).
However the biggest mention must go to Dave Rayner for putting in a Man of the Match performance in goal.
